JavaTrek, the 3-D Space Combat Simulator. <—- MTrek uses a fork of this. It’s Java, if not precisely a “MUD”…

Someone handy with Java could re-skin it to a Star Wars Theme, an underwater theme, or even use the 3-D vectoring & combat/movement system to make it a persistent-world text based shooter, or probably a lot of other things. It might also be spliced with a more traditional MUD engine if you want to add a Space Combat/Aerial Combat element to an existing Java text game.

Check out MTrek.com if you want to see a running example of it. There’s also xmltrek.com, which is running a separate fork of JavaTrek, supporting a graphical client.

I’m developing a MUD in Java. Based on a simple Telnet (multi)Server.
